Dawn Home Residential House

Dawn Home Residential House is an exemplary residential renovation project that transformed a 1975 government employee dormitory into a thoughtfully designed living space specifically adapted for a young Parkinson's disease patient, showcasing the harmonious integration of Oriental tea culture aesthetics with modern smart home technology. The two-story structure, encompassing 138 square meters of living space, demonstrates exceptional spatial optimization through its open-plan first floor design and strategically placed large windows on the second floor, effectively addressing the challenges of circulation, natural lighting, and ventilation inherent in the original structure. The interior design philosophy draws profound inspiration from Tea Zen principles, incorporating natural materials such as wood, mineral paint, woven fabrics, and metal to create a therapeutic living environment that promotes both physical comfort and spiritual well-being. Notable architectural elements include geometric lattice tiles that create dynamic light and shadow effects while facilitating natural airflow, effectively blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. The project, completed in January 2023 under the direction of Wei-Ju Teng and team, represents a significant achievement in adaptive reuse architecture, earning recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its innovative approach to combining therapeutic functionality with aesthetic excellence. The design's success lies in its holistic approach to addressing the specific needs of its resident while preserving the building's historical character, incorporating smart home systems that enhance accessibility and daily living comfort, and creating a serene atmosphere that reflects the contemplative nature of traditional Oriental design principles.
