DaMingDingDing Chinese Hot Pot is an innovative interior design project for a contemporary Chinese hot pot restaurant located in Fuzhou, China, exemplifying a sophisticated fusion of traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern architectural aesthetics. The 220-square-meter establishment, completed in 2019, represents a significant advancement in restaurant interior design through its creative use of light, space, and materials. The design, conceived by Hui Hsin Cheng and Lin Wan Ju, employs distinctive features such as linear light strips and titanium-plated surfaces that create dynamic reflections, establishing an immersive dining environment reminiscent of a time tunnel. The space is thoughtfully divided into two primary zones: a main pot area and private box sections, with the latter incorporating sliding doors and luxurious titanium-plated materials to ensure privacy while maintaining visual connectivity. The design draws inspiration from oriental cultural elements, including traditional window crafts, symbolic motifs, and celestial constellations, reimagined through a contemporary lens. Notable design elements include a signature chandelier that references Chinese constellation patterns, creating a harmonious balance between cultural heritage and modern sophistication. The project, which earned the prestigious Gold A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2021, demonstrates exceptional innovation in spatial planning, lighting design, and material application.
