Dame De Pique Bottle Packaging
Dame de Pique Bottle packaging is an innovative beverage packaging design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional French liquor craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities. Created by architect and liquorist Romuald Vincent, this distinctive packaging solution was specifically developed for a premium French aperitif known as veine d'épine noire (blackthorn wine). The design features printed aluminum bottles with food-grade inner coating and offset-printed cardboard packaging, measuring 53x167mm for individual bottles and 582x212mm for the unfolded tripack configuration. The aesthetic concept draws inspiration from a medieval local legend of the Dame de Pique (Queen of Spades), incorporating a sophisticated color palette of black, red, and white that reflects both the mythological narrative and poker-themed elements. The packaging design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, demonstrates exceptional consideration for its target demographic through its emphasis on responsible consumption and gift-giving potential. The innovative tripack system employs a single-piece cardboard construction that can be assembled without adhesives, featuring a convenient tear-opening tab for accessibility while maintaining premium market positioning. The design successfully addresses multiple technical challenges, including production constraints, cost considerations, and material optimization, while effectively balancing aesthetic appeal with practical functionality.
