Crossover Lab Office Design

Crossover Lab Office Design is an innovative workplace design concept that reimagines post-pandemic office environments, emphasizing collaborative spaces and sustainable practices. This comprehensive interior design project, spanning 6,506 square meters across three floors of a historic 60-year-old building, represents a significant advancement in contemporary workplace design philosophy. The design's core concept revolves around the principle of crossover, which facilitates the intersection of knowledge, methods, and individual expertise to create dynamic work environments. The project, completed in 2021, incorporates numerous sustainable materials and innovative features, including tabletops made from wood residue and resin composites, repurposed textile surfaces, carbon-neutral carpet tiles, and wall panels manufactured from coffee grounds. A distinctive feature of the design is its integration of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, exemplified by the incorporation of Sakan paint techniques alongside modern digital technology. The space is strategically organized to promote serendipitous encounters and co-creation opportunities, featuring diverse workspaces across multiple floors that employees can choose based on their specific needs. The design successfully balances wellbeing, sustainability, and locality while honoring the building's historical context in East Ginza. This innovative approach to workplace design earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial planning, material selection, and sustainable design practices. The project demonstrates how thoughtful interior design can support corporate identity while addressing contemporary workplace challenges, particularly in the context of evolving post-pandemic work patterns.
