Cradles

Cradles are a type of bed or sleeping apparatus designed for infants and young children. They are typically made of wood, wicker, or metal and are designed to be small enough to fit in a parent's bedroom or to be easily moved from room to room. Cradles are often used for newborns and infants up to six months old, at which point they are typically transitioned to a larger crib. Cradles have been used for centuries and were traditionally made of natural materials such as woven grasses, animal skins, or wooden slats. In some cultures, cradles were hung from the ceiling or attached to a wooden frame that could be rocked back and forth to soothe a fussy baby. Today, most cradles are designed to be stationary or have a gentle rocking motion that can be manually or mechanically activated. One of the benefits of using a cradle is that it can provide a sense of security and comfort to a newborn who is adjusting to life outside of the womb. The small size of the cradle can also make it easier for parents to keep a close eye on their baby during the night and to quickly respond to their needs. However, it is important to note that cradles should always be used with caution and under close supervision. Infants should always be placed on their backs to sleep to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Additionally, cradles should be placed on a flat, stable surface and should not be used once a baby is able to sit up or pull themselves up, as this can pose a falling hazard.
