Cortina Kettle

Cortina Kettle

Cortina Kettle is an innovative kitchen appliance that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of form and function through its distinctive circular design philosophy. Created by Korean designer Jungjoon Hwang, this remarkable kettle embodies the eternal cycle of water through its seamlessly integrated spout and handle, forming a perfect circle when viewed from the front while presenting an intriguingly distorted perspective from the side. Crafted from premium 18/10 stainless steel, the kettle measures 160mm in width and 215mm in height, demonstrating a commitment to both aesthetic excellence and environmental responsibility by deliberately avoiding rubber components that could generate harmful environmental hormones. The design's conceptual foundation rests on the principle that water has no beginning or end, reflected in its circular form that challenges traditional kettle architecture where spouts and handles typically exist as separate elements. This convergence of functional elements represents a significant departure from conventional kettle design, offering users a unique pouring experience that varies depending on the angle of use. The Cortina Kettle's innovative approach to thermal management ensures that heat is not conducted to the handle, prioritizing user safety without compromising its environmental principles. This groundbreaking design, which emerged from an internal design project completed in 2011 and was showcased at the Seoul Design Festival, earned recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category, acknowledging its exceptional contribution to kitchenware design innovation.
