Cork Stopper Table Coffee Table

Cork Stopper Table Coffee Table

Cork Stopper Table Coffee Table is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of functionality, aesthetics, and simplified assembly in contemporary furniture design. Created by designer Hyeonil Jeong, this distinctive piece revolutionizes the DIY furniture concept by incorporating an oversized cork stopper as its central structural element, combined with precision-crafted Baltic birch plywood legs and a tempered glass top. The table's dimensions of 915mm in width and depth, with a height of 460mm, create an ideal proportion for modern living spaces. Its ingenious assembly mechanism eliminates the need for traditional hardware, glues, or screws, allowing for complete assembly in under a minute while maintaining structural integrity. The design's sophisticated material palette combines CNC-milled birch plywood, hand-lathed cork, and high-polished tempered glass, creating a visual dialogue between machine precision and artisanal craftsmanship. This remarkable piece, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, challenges conventional furniture design paradigms by demonstrating that DIY furniture can achieve both ease of assembly and high-end aesthetic appeal. The transparent glass top strategically reveals the structural elements at eye level, transforming the functional components into visual features, while the hand-crafted cork element introduces an organic, warm contrast to the precisely engineered components, resulting in a piece that serves as both functional furniture and sculptural art.
