Core Kinetic Light Sculpture

Core Kinetic Light Sculpture

Core Kinetic Light Sculpture is an innovative architectural art installation that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of mechanical engineering, artistic expression, and architectural preservation. Created in 2021, this sophisticated kinetic sculpture takes the form of a pine cone, measuring 85 centimeters in length, width, and 90 centimeters in height, comprising 87 meticulously crafted brass pieces that create a mesmerizing display of movement and light. The sculpture's distinctive feature lies in its dynamic mechanical structure, where copper leaves systematically open and close through precisely engineered inner mechanisms, creating a breathing-like movement that symbolically transforms its architectural setting into a living entity. This remarkable piece, which garnered recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category, represents a significant achievement in sustainable architectural art, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary mechanical innovation. The installation's placement above a spiral staircase creates an immersive viewing experience, as the regular opening and closing movements, coupled with strategic lighting, generate an atmosphere of rhythmic respiration throughout the space. The sculpture's conceptual foundation draws inspiration from the preservation of historical architecture, symbolizing eternal life through its pine cone form, while its sophisticated engineering employs reciprocating screws to orchestrate the movement of twelve central structures connecting the brass leaves, demonstrating exceptional technical precision and artistic vision.
