Conversations Stone Scenes
Conversations Stone Scenes is an innovative fine art installation series created by designer and academic Naai-Jung Shih, exploring the multifaceted nature of human communication through carefully curated stone arrangements. This contemplative artwork, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category, comprises multiple sculptural compositions that metaphorically represent various forms of interpersonal dialogue and interaction. The installation, developed since 2016 in Taipei, features meticulously selected stones arranged in scenarios that symbolize different communication dynamics, from intimate conversations between couples to hierarchical exchanges between employers and employees, and spiritual dialogues between religious figures and followers. Each composition, ranging in size from 38cm x 10cm x 5cm to 15cm x 8cm x 17cm, demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship in achieving balanced arrangements without artificial adhesives, relying instead on the natural properties and forms of the stones. The artistic process involved extensive research into material properties, requiring careful consideration of texture, shape, and color relationships to create meaningful narrative compositions. The work's distinctive characteristic lies in its ability to be appreciated from multiple angles, offering viewers different perspectives and interpretations of each scene.
