Contrast Of Materials Residential House

Contrast Of Materials Residential House

Contrast of Materials Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project completed in 2019, exemplifying sophisticated material interplay and spatial harmony within a 250-square-meter single-floor mansion. This distinguished design, created by Chih-Chien Chen, masterfully employs contrasting material compositions to achieve a dramatic yet peaceful living environment. The design's fundamental concept revolves around the strategic implementation of varied surface textures and materials, including lightweight tiles with marble surfaces, deep wood elements, and brown leather, creating a continuous yet differentiated flow between the living room and kitchen island. The space is characterized by its thoughtful juxtaposition of artificial and natural materials, reflective and matte surfaces, and smooth and rough textures, all carefully orchestrated to engage both visual and tactile senses. Notable design features include concealed bedroom doors, kitchenware, and storage cabinets, contributing to a more refined and uncluttered spatial experience. The project showcases innovative material applications, particularly in the use of lightweight, thin tiles as surfacing for refrigerator doors and kitchen cabinets, effectively connecting the living and dining areas through subtle material transitions. The design incorporates elegant architectural elements such as curved lighting fixtures and ceiling details, while successfully integrating cloth patterns, oil paintings, marble effects, and gradient finishes through sophisticated tile work. This exemplary residential project, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its material selection, spatial planning, and functional considerations, setting new standards for contemporary residential interior design.
