Contiguity - Borderline Residential House

Contiguity - Borderline Residential House is an innovative two-storey office design project that exemplifies sophisticated spatial planning and interior architecture, completed in 2018 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. This 90-square-meter space, designed by Shih Yun Lung and Tsai Hsiu Yun, masterfully integrates diverse design elements while maintaining functional efficiency across its two levels. The first floor houses a thoughtfully designed reception area characterized by elegant wood grain flooring and composed brick walls that create a tranquil, welcoming atmosphere. The design's distinctive features include an extensive entrance floor that harmoniously balances functional and visual elements, complemented by graceful furniture arrangements and biophilic elements such as verdant arbors and green walls that infuse natural energy into the space. The second floor accommodates the working area and staff lounge, where white polished tiles create a contemporary LOFT ambience, enhanced by wooden elements and frosted glass partitions. The design's sophisticated approach to space utilization is evident in details such as island desks that effectively manage traffic flow, while unique elements like an antique Chinese chest repurposed as a coffee table in the staff lounge demonstrate creative integration of traditional elements with modern functionality. This project, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, stands out for its skillful blend of aesthetic refinement and practical workspace solutions, showcasing how thoughtful interior design can transcend conventional spatial boundaries while maintaining operational efficiency.
