Contemporary Mix Residential Apartment
Contemporary Mix Residential Apartment is an exemplary interior design project that demonstrates the sophisticated integration of diverse design elements within a modernized residential space. Originally constructed in the 1990s, this 400-square-meter apartment underwent a comprehensive renovation that eliminated internal walls in social spaces to create an expansive, integrated living environment spanning 180 square meters. The design's distinguishing characteristic lies in its masterful fusion of contemporary aesthetics with historical elements, featuring a carefully curated collection of antiques and family heirlooms displayed against pristine white walls, creating a harmonious mid-century ambiance. The project, completed in 2021 in Blumenau, Brazil, showcases innovative use of Brazilian natural ornamental rocks, most notably incorporating a striking backlit translucent Patagonia quartzite panel. The spatial organization follows axial principles, with a strategically placed recamier that subtly delineates the living spaces while maintaining visual continuity. The design successfully addresses the dual requirements of accommodating daily family life while providing an elegant setting for social gatherings. This project, recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies excellence in contemporary residential interior design through its thoughtful balance of traditional and modern elements, sophisticated use of materials, and innovative space planning that enhances both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
