Commute Carbon App is an innovative mobile application designed to combat global warming by empowering individuals to make environmentally conscious transportation choices. Developed by user experience designer Anyi Sun, this intelligent software solution addresses the critical challenge of reducing carbon emissions from daily commuting activities through a comprehensive suite of features including Route Planning, Commute Logging, Smart Analysis, and Reward Redemption. The application, available for both iOS and Android platforms, employs a human-centric design approach incorporating extensive user research, journey mapping, and persona creation methodologies to deliver an intuitive and engaging user experience. The app's sophisticated functionality enables users to input their journey's start and end points, subsequently displaying the carbon footprint associated with various transportation methods, while also providing innovative data visualizations for tracking personal environmental impact. Distinguished by its clean interface and gamified elements, the application incentivizes sustainable travel choices through a reward system offering tangible benefits such as discounts on eco-friendly products. The development process involved comprehensive user research, including interviews with eight environmentally conscious individuals and surveys completed by approximately fifty participants, which informed the app's design decisions and feature set.
