Combine Office is an innovative interior design project that reimagines the traditional workplace environment by seamlessly blending the casual atmosphere of restaurants with the contemplative nature of libraries. Completed in Shanghai in 2019, this sophisticated office space exemplifies a contemporary approach to workplace design through its thoughtful integration of functional blocks and diverse material applications. The design, created by Carlie Ling and K.D Hsu, features distinctive arc-shaped arch doors that create a rhythmic spatial flow, breaking away from conventional office layouts while maintaining professional functionality. The space employs a refined grey color scheme complemented by carefully selected materials including fire-proof board, carpet flooring for acoustic optimization, and exposed brick walls, all working in harmony to establish visual comfort and spatial consistency. Natural lighting plays a crucial role in the design, enhanced by strategic LED lighting fixtures that create distinct spatial layers throughout the interior. The open-plan layout incorporates supervisor offices, meeting rooms, and conference spaces positioned to maximize natural light exposure through glass partitions, while steel-plate desks and storage volumes are thoughtfully arranged along the perimeter. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category demonstrates exceptional space utilization, allowing professionals to work both independently and collaboratively while fostering spontaneous interactions.
