Colour Injector Interactive Multicoloured Lamp
Colour Injector Interactive Multicoloured Lamp is an innovative interactive lighting design that exemplifies the fusion of analog interaction with digital color theory, created by designer Taras Sgibnev. This sophisticated illumination system physically manifests the RGB color mixing principles commonly found in digital interfaces through a unique mechanical-digital hybrid interface. The design features a distinctive arrangement of syringes suspended beneath a white matte plastic lampshade, connected via transparent tubes to corresponding internal mechanisms. These syringes serve as intuitive physical controls, allowing users to manipulate the lamp's color output through a novel 'in-n-out' system. The internal architecture comprises an Arduino microcontroller that translates the analog movements of the syringes into precise digital color commands, controlling LED rings that produce a full spectrum of hues. Standing at 520 millimeters in height with a 190-millimeter diameter, the lamp's minimalist exterior belies its complex internal engineering, which successfully conceals all electronic components except for the control syringes and power cable. The design, which earned a Golden A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, represents a significant innovation in interactive lighting design, offering users an engaging and tactile method of color manipulation while serving as an educational tool that demonstrates fundamental principles of light and color mixing. The project's development, which spanned several months, involved extensive prototyping and refinement to achieve its final form, resulting in a seamless integration of mechanical, electronic, and aesthetic elements that create an emotionally engaging user experience.
