Co-Grain Bird Feeder Cereal Pack

Co-Grain Bird Feeder Cereal Pack

Co-Grain Bird Feeder Cereal Pack is an innovative sustainable packaging design solution that transforms conventional cereal packaging into functional bird feeders, addressing both food waste reduction and urban wildlife conservation. This environmentally conscious design, created by Lide Ma, Zhiyi Zou, and Yuxuan Mao, represents a significant advancement in eco-friendly packaging solutions, earning recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category. The design features a sophisticated structural system crafted from high-strength kraft paper with protective coating, measuring 86mm in length, 100mm in width, and 225mm in height. The package's ingenious transformation mechanism involves four strategic steps: utilizing a tear ring to create a hanging mechanism, forming a bottom opening along perforated lines, installing a bird-standing platform through an integrated groove system, and creating feeding access points. This multifunctional design not only serves its primary purpose as a cereal container but also promotes human-wildlife coexistence in urban environments through its secondary function as a bird feeder. The design's innovation lies in its ability to seamlessly integrate these dual functionalities without increasing production costs or compromising structural integrity, while simultaneously addressing the challenges of grain waste and urban bird survival in increasingly developed environments. The project, developed in Hangzhou during January 2023, emerged from extensive research into household cereal consumption patterns and urban wildlife dynamics, representing a thoughtful intersection of sustainable design, consumer behavior, and environmental conservation.
