Citizen Engagement
Citizen Engagement is when people living in a place help shape how that place is planned and built, especially in participatory planning. In many cities, designers use simple tools like mapping workshops or voting boards to let people show what they want in parks, streets, or buildings. These tools help collect ideas and feedback from everyone, including children and older adults, making sure many voices are heard. Designers sometimes use storyboards or physical models so people can see and touch ideas before anything is built. This hands-on approach helps turn local knowledge into real design choices, making the final plan fit better with what people need and want.
