Circular Urbanism

Circular Urbanism is a design approach that uses the idea of regenerative design to keep materials, water, and energy moving in loops within a city. In practice, this means designers can plan neighborhoods where waste from one building becomes a resource for another, like using rainwater from rooftops to water public gardens or turning food scraps into compost for urban farms. Designers can use mapping tools to track flows of resources and find places where sharing or reuse can happen. This way, cities can grow while using fewer new resources and creating less waste, helping people and nature thrive together.

urban metabolism, resource loops, regenerative cities, closed-loop systems, urban agriculture, material reuse
