Chiang Hu Baijiu

Chiang Hu Baijiu

Chiang Hu Baijiu is an innovative Chinese spirits packaging design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese wine culture with contemporary aesthetic sensibilities. Created by designers Evan Chen and Ziming Guo, this sophisticated packaging design features intricate engravings of birds on the front and the panoramic landscape of China's Fenhe River on the reverse, creating a dynamic visual narrative that unfolds as the bottle is rotated. The design, which won the Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, represents a significant achievement in cultural storytelling through product presentation. The packaging's structural elements incorporate natural anti-collision features and innovative air-damping mechanics in its opening mechanism, demonstrating technical sophistication in its 240mm×125mm×100mm dimensions. The product itself is a neo-Chinese style single sorghum baijiu, distinguished by its unique incorporation of Valencia orange peel, resulting in a subtle citrus aroma balanced with a smooth, sweet finish. The design's conceptual depth is evident in its symbolic representation of traditional Chinese elements, where the howl bird motif symbolizes lofty aspirations, while the landscape illustration of the Fenhe River, the second largest tributary of the Yellow River Valley, grounds the design in its geographical and cultural context. The project, initiated in Suzhou on New Year's Day 2021, exemplifies the successful integration of artistic aesthetics with commercial design, particularly in its thoughtful consideration of the relationship between the container's form and its cultural significance.
