Chengdu Gift Retail Space is an innovative retail environment that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chengdu cultural elements with contemporary architectural design principles. Located in Chengdu, China, this 137-square-meter exhibition space showcases a revolutionary approach to retail design through its distinctive dome-shaped structure composed of 320 white metal plates crafted in the form of Ginkgo leaves, a significant cultural symbol of the city. The design concept revolves around the metaphor of an opening gift box, creating an atmosphere of anticipation and discovery for visitors. The interior features a sophisticated combination of pink counters arranged systematically on green floor tiles, while the reception area incorporates elements of Western Sichuan folk architecture, complete with blue bricks and grey tiles that pay homage to Chengdu's renowned tea house culture. The space employs a minimalist material palette, primarily utilizing stainless steel and glass to achieve its aesthetic goals, with the metallic Ginkgo leaf elements serving both decorative and structural purposes throughout the exhibition space. This architectural achievement, completed in just 28 days through innovative assembly techniques, demonstrates exceptional spatial design prowess and was recognized with a Gold A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The project's success lies in its ability to create a compelling narrative of local culture while maintaining a contemporary retail environment that elevates the presentation of merchandise through thoughtful design elements and spatial relationships.
