Chahar Gah Villa
Chahar Gah Villa is an innovative architectural masterpiece located on the western coast of the Caspian Sea in Anzali, Iran, exemplifying a harmonious blend of contemporary design and environmental consciousness. This remarkable residential structure, designed by architect Nima Keivani and recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, spans 650 square meters within a 2060-square-meter plot. The villa's distinctive design philosophy centers on dissolving traditional boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, featuring suspended volumes that maximize views while maintaining privacy. The building's east-west orientation responds intelligently to regional climatic conditions, with its elongated form and innovative chimney design facilitating natural air circulation. The structure's exterior shell, inspired by traditional local architecture, incorporates wide openings that frame the surrounding landscape while addressing energy sustainability concerns. Standing at 14 meters in height, the villa employs a sophisticated layered design approach with suspended interior spaces arranged in separate boxes around a central hallway and living area. The architectural composition creates a dynamic interplay between transparency and privacy, successfully integrating biophilic principles through its response to seasonal changes and natural ventilation patterns. The project, completed in 2022, represents a significant achievement in sustainable residential architecture, demonstrating how contemporary design can effectively address climate adaptation, energy efficiency, and spatial organization while maintaining strong connections to its cultural and environmental context.
