CEREMONY Lighting
CEREMONY Lighting is an innovative lighting fixture that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of simplicity and sophistication in contemporary design. Created by Turkish architect and designer Sebnem Buhara, this copper-plated metal luminaire stands as a testament to minimalist design principles while delivering profound emotional resonance. The fixture, measuring 50 centimeters in width and 45 centimeters in height, features a distinctive form that draws inspiration from the ethereal beauty of the Northern Lights, incorporating both handcrafted elements and modern manufacturing techniques. Its design philosophy centers on the celebration of life's moments, embodying harmony, plainness, and balance through the thoughtful combination of traditional and contemporary materials. The lighting fixture employs traditional incandescent bulbs rather than LED technology to achieve its characteristic warm illumination, complemented by a dimming mechanism that allows users to control the ambiance. This deliberate choice in lighting technology demonstrates the designer's commitment to achieving specific aesthetic qualities over trending technological solutions. The design, which won the Iron A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, represents a significant contribution to the field of lighting design through its marriage of functionality and emotional resonance. Its copper finish not only serves as a versatile design element suitable for various interior contexts but also develops a natural patina over time, adding to its aesthetic appeal. The fixture's creation was driven by the designer's philosophy that while we cannot alter certain aspects of life, we can enhance the moments we share together through thoughtful design interventions.
