Catherine Of Aragon

Catherine of Aragon was not an artist, but rather a historical figure and queen consort of England. She was born in 1485 in Spain and was the youngest surviving child of King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile. Catherine was married to Arthur, Prince of Wales, but he died shortly after their marriage. She later married Arthur's younger brother, Henry VIII, and became queen consort of England. Catherine was a devout Catholic and struggled with Henry VIII's desire to annul their marriage so he could marry Anne Boleyn. She refused to accept the annulment and fought for her rights as queen and wife. This led to the English Reformation and the eventual break from the Catholic Church. Despite her strong will and determination, Catherine was ultimately unable to save her marriage to Henry VIII. She was banished from court and lived out the rest of her life in isolation. Catherine died in 1536 at the age of 50.
