Castle Of Fairy Tale Residential House
Castle of Fairy Tale Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of European architectural elements with contemporary living spaces. This five-floor duplex apartment, completed in 2018 in Taichung, Taiwan, underwent a dramatic transformation through strategic architectural interventions that expanded its spatial dynamics fourfold. The design, conceived by Fang Ming Lo, masterfully addresses the challenge of confined spaces by implementing a comprehensive reconstruction that removes traditional spatial constraints. The project's distinguishing features include a majestic hall created through the strategic removal of ceiling sections, an exterior hallway relocation that facilitates horizontal expansion, and the integration of arcade elements that orchestrate natural light penetration. The interior showcases sophisticated material selection, incorporating three distinct stone varieties: carved white marble flooring, leathered white marble wall treatments, and specially treated summerwood tree stone, all enhanced by titanium trim accents. A notable architectural innovation is the semi-open air attic, which functions as an extended study area and incorporates opera box-inspired elements with transparent glass railings. Four arch windows, strategically positioned facing the attic, serve as artistic display spaces that create varying aesthetic experiences between day and night. The design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its exceptional approach to spatial transformation and cultural integration. The project's success lies in its ability to create a luxurious, majestic atmosphere while maintaining functional practicality, effectively narrating the occupants' stories through thoughtful spatial design that bridges European cultural elements with contemporary living requirements.
