Carpenters’ Clamps
Carpenters’ clamps, also known as woodworking clamps, are tools used by carpenters to hold two or more pieces of wood together while they are being glued, screwed, or nailed. These clamps come in a variety of shapes and sizes, depending on the specific application and the size of the wood pieces being joined. They are typically made of metal, with wooden or plastic handles for ease of use. The most common type of carpenters’ clamp is the bar clamp, which consists of a long metal bar with two clamping jaws at each end. The jaws are tightened by turning a screw, which applies pressure to the wood pieces being joined. Bar clamps are available in various lengths, from a few inches to several feet, and are ideal for larger woodworking projects. Another type of carpenters’ clamp is the C-clamp, which has a fixed jaw and a movable jaw that is tightened by turning a screw. C-clamps are smaller and more versatile than bar clamps, and are often used for smaller woodworking projects or for holding pieces of wood in place while they are being cut or drilled. Parallel clamps are another type of carpenters’ clamp that are commonly used for woodworking. These clamps have two jaws that are parallel to each other, and are tightened by turning a handle or knob. Parallel clamps are ideal for holding large pieces of wood together, and are often used in cabinetry and furniture making.
