Carel Visser

Carel Visser was a Dutch sculptor and designer who made significant contributions to the world of art in the post-war era. He was born in 1922 in the Netherlands and began his career as an architect, but soon shifted his focus to sculpture and design. Visser's work was characterized by its biomorphic forms, which were inspired by the modernist aesthetic of the time. He was known for his use of industrial materials, such as steel, iron, and aluminum, which he transformed into organic shapes that seemed to defy their origins. Visser's sculptures were often large and imposing, yet also delicate and intricate. He had a keen eye for balance and proportion, and his works often seemed to hover on the edge of stability. His use of negative space was also notable, as he often incorporated holes and voids into his sculptures to create a sense of depth and movement. Throughout his career, Visser received numerous awards and accolades for his work. He exhibited his sculptures and designs in galleries and museums around the world, and his pieces are now held in many prestigious collections. Visser passed away in 1996, but his legacy lives on through his art. His work continues to inspire and challenge artists and designers today, and his contributions to the world of sculpture and design are widely recognized and celebrated.
