Carburetters
Carburetors, also known as carburettors, are mechanical devices used in internal combustion engines to mix air and fuel in the correct ratio for combustion. They were widely used in automobiles and other vehicles before the introduction of fuel injection systems. Carburetors work by using a venturi, a narrow section of the carburetor where the air is forced to speed up, creating a low-pressure area that draws fuel into the air stream. The amount of fuel that is mixed with the air is controlled by the position of a valve called the throttle, which regulates the amount of air that enters the engine. Carburetors come in many different types and designs, depending on the specific application and engine requirements. Some carburetors are designed for high-performance engines and are capable of delivering large amounts of fuel and air to the engine quickly, while others are designed for smaller engines that require less fuel and air. Carburetors can also be designed to work with different types of fuel, such as gasoline, diesel, or ethanol. Despite their widespread use in the past, carburetors have largely been replaced by fuel injection systems in modern vehicles. Fuel injection systems are more efficient and precise, allowing for better fuel economy and lower emissions. However, carburetors are still used in some applications, such as small engines, motorcycles, and vintage cars.
