Cang Ma Mountain Residence

Cang Ma Mountain Residence

Cang Ma Mountain Residence is a significant architectural development project located in the West Coast of Qingdao, China, nestled within the picturesque Cang Ma Mountain Tourist Resort, exemplifying a harmonious blend of contemporary residential design with traditional rural cultural elements. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning architectural masterpiece encompasses a vast area of approximately 130,000 square meters, featuring a thoughtfully planned construction that includes 131,400 square meters of above-ground space and 19,800 square meters of underground facilities. The development seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings, utilizing the existing topography to create a series of independent platform groups that preserve the original mountain landscape while accommodating modern living requirements. The residential complex comprises 4-to-8 story residential buildings complemented by 2-to-3 story commercial structures, designed to house over 1,300 households while maintaining a strong connection to the area's pastoral heritage. The architectural design draws inspiration from the cultural richness of the west coast village and the aesthetic principles found in traditional Chinese landscape paintings, particularly the Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains. Distinguished by its innovative approach to combining traditional elements such as red tiles, green trees, fences, stone mills, tea fields, and ancient wells with contemporary architectural solutions, the project successfully addresses the practical needs of villager resettlement while creating a living environment that honors local traditions and modern lifestyle requirements. Completed in June 2020 after a comprehensive development period that began in October 2018, this architectural achievement stands as a testament to thoughtful urban planning and cultural preservation, earning recognition through the prestigious A' Design Award for its outstanding contribution to architectural design and community development.
