Canada Residence

Canada Residence is an award-winning architectural masterpiece located in São Paulo City, Brazil, exemplifying contemporary minimalist design principles through its innovative use of overlapping volumes and extensive glass walls. This thousand-square-meter residence, designed by Brazilian architect Simone Mantovani, demonstrates exceptional spatial integration across three distinct functional levels accommodating living spaces, services, and bedrooms. The project's distinguishing feature is its harmonious fusion of interior and exterior spaces, achieved through the strategic placement of a large internal garden and a ray swimming pool, connected by sliding glass panels that create seamless visual continuity. The sophisticated material palette combines plain white walls, Brazilian natural stones including Black Slate and Travertine marble, ebony wood, and contrasting light internal and Itauba external flooring. A notable architectural element is the living room, conceived as an expansive covered terrace featuring a three-meter-long gas fireplace embedded within a longitudinal steel-plated niche. The residence's design philosophy emphasizes essential elements and promotes intense family interaction through open-plan spaces and transparent boundaries. Despite the challenges posed by narrow site constraints and urban security requirements, the architect successfully created an inward-focused haven that prioritizes privacy while maintaining abundant natural light and spatial fluidity. The project, which took six months to design and two years to construct, earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, acknowledging its exceptional contribution to residential architecture through its innovative approach to modern living spaces.
