Created by Chinese designer Xuefei Chen, this sophisticated ensemble comprises containers, brush, and holder components, engineered to accommodate both incense sticks and cones. The design's conceptual foundation draws inspiration from the remarkable camouflage abilities of various creatures in nature, particularly focusing on their capacity to seamlessly blend with their surroundings through structural and chromatic adaptations. The piece demonstrates a masterful transformation of complex biological movements and patterns from two-dimensional studies into three-dimensional functional forms, achieved through advanced manufacturing processes including 3D wax printing and brass casting with meticulous metal finishing. The creation process involved extensive research at prestigious institutions, incorporating studies of sea creatures, insects, bones, and natural textures, resulting in a sophisticated interpretation of natural camouflage mechanisms in a functional art piece. This work, which was developed between September 2016 and May 2017 in Birmingham, represents a significant achievement in limited edition design, earning recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Limited Edition and Custom Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to materials, aesthetic excellence, and functional efficiency.
