Breathing Spirit Air-Purifying Shade
Breathing Spirit Air-Purifying Shade is an innovative architectural element that combines aesthetic design with air purification functionality, representing a harmonious fusion of traditional Iranian architectural principles and modern environmental technology. This sophisticated window shade system, designed by Ali Mahmoudi and team, incorporates multiple layers of functionality through its modular panel design, featuring a combination of PVC, Thermowood, or colored aluminum materials integrated with TiO2-coated metal sheets and electrostatic filtration technology. The design draws profound inspiration from traditional Iranian 'Shabak' (latticed windows), translating their spiritual and aesthetic qualities into a contemporary context while addressing modern urban air quality challenges. The system's sophisticated construction includes a 10-centimeter deep main frame with adjustable dimensions to accommodate various window sizes, featuring modular panels that are 20 centimeters in height and incorporate advanced electromechanical equipment for air purification. The design's unique approach to environmental control is managed through a user-friendly interface, allowing remote or touch-panel control of panel positions and filter maintenance. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning creation in the Building Materials and Construction Components Design category represents a significant advancement in sustainable architectural solutions, offering both practical air purification capabilities and creating meaningful spatial experiences through its manipulation of light and shadow. The system's innovative self-cleaning mechanism, which utilizes vibration to separate pollutants and collect them in a removable dumpster, demonstrates thoughtful consideration of user maintenance requirements, while its ability to create spiritual atmospheres through light filtration patterns connects users to traditional architectural values in a contemporary context.
