Bodystocking
A bodystocking is a type of tight-fitting garment that covers the entire body, including the torso, arms, and legs. It is typically made of a stretchy, sheer fabric such as lace, spandex, or nylon. Bodystockings can be worn as lingerie, dancewear, or as a fashion statement. They come in a variety of styles, including long-sleeved, sleeveless, crotchless, and footless. Some bodystockings may also feature intricate designs, patterns, or embellishments. Bodystockings have a long history, dating back to the 19th century when they were known as long johns. They were originally worn as a form of thermal underwear to keep the body warm in cold weather. In the 20th century, bodystockings became popular as lingerie and dancewear. They were often worn by burlesque dancers, strippers, and other performers to accentuate their curves and add an element of seduction to their performances. Today, bodystockings are still popular as lingerie and dancewear, but they have also become a fashion trend. They can be worn as a statement piece with a skirt or shorts, or as a layering piece under clothing. Bodystockings are versatile and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Bodystocking
The word ‘bodystocking’ dates back to early 20th century; it is derived from the combination of two words - body + stocking. The first word body, refers to the physical body, which surrounded the middle of the stocking material. The second word, stocking is derived from the old English ‘stoccynge’ meaning a kind of foot covering. The word ‘stocking’ can also be traced back to the 19th century when people used to wear them to wrap their legs and feet to protect them from treacherous weather. From a morphological perspective, the word ‘bodystocking’ has an organized structure, with the two words placed together to refer to a single item of clothing. In addition, the word’s construction serves a pragmatic purpose, as it is used to refer to a long, one-piece body suit worn by dancers, swimmers and other performers.
