Bloating

Bloating is a common digestive issue characterized by a feeling of fullness, tightness, or swelling in the abdominal area. It occurs when the gastrointestinal tract becomes filled with air or gas, leading to distension and discomfort. Bloating can be caused by various factors, including overeating, consuming certain foods that produce gas (such as beans, lentils, and cruciferous vegetables), swallowing air while eating or drinking, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and other digestive disorders. Symptoms of bloating may include a visibly enlarged or protruding abdomen, pain or cramping, flatulence, belching, and a feeling of fullness even after eating small amounts of food. While occasional bloating is normal, persistent or severe bloating may indicate an underlying health issue and should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. Treatment for bloating typically involves identifying and addressing the underlying cause, such as making dietary modifications, managing stress, treating digestive disorders, and in some cases, using over-the-counter medications like simethicone or activated charcoal to alleviate gas and discomfort
