Black Eyes Lighting is an innovative lighting fixture design that embodies a metaphorical interpretation of the human eye's interaction with light, created by Iranian designers Saeid Aliari and Pouran Daryaei. The design consists of two concentric spherical shells, where the outer shell remains fixed while the inner shell rotates around a vertical axis, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. The sophisticated mechanism features two symmetrical apertures positioned at 90-degree angles, allowing users to control light direction and intensity through simple rotational movements. With dimensions of 175mm for the outer sphere and 170mm for the inner sphere, each featuring 85mm radius holes, the design achieves a perfect balance between form and function. The concept draws inspiration from the natural movement of celestial bodies and the daily rotation of Earth, simulating a miniature cosmic experience within interior spaces. The production methodology encompasses both spinning techniques for limited editions and molding-pressing technology for mass production, with the manufacturing process carefully executed in two distinct stages to ensure precise fitting of the spherical components. This lighting fixture, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2017, represents a harmonious fusion of poetic aesthetics and practical functionality, offering users an interactive lighting experience that transforms ambient spaces through its innovative design approach.
