His art is a reflection of his personal experiences and the struggles of his homeland, and he often incorporates unconventional materials and techniques into his pieces. Zamanpira's works range from abstract to semi-figurative, and he is known for his use of intense and fragmented colors in his oil paintings. Zamanpira was born in Damascus in 1967 and moved to the Netherlands in 1991, where he currently resides and works. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad and later at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Zamanpira's art has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in major museums and galleries around the world, including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. One of Zamanpira's most notable works is his installation piece The House of the Poet, which was exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2015. The piece consists of a series of rooms that are filled with sculptures made from wool, thread, and recycled paper products. The rooms are arranged in a way that creates a sense of disorientation and confusion, reflecting the chaos and destruction that Zamanpira has witnessed in his homeland. Zamanpira's art is deeply influenced by his Middle Eastern roots as well as his exposure to Western art and culture. He is known for his ability to blend these influences seamlessly in his works, creating pieces that are both visually stunning and intellectually engaging.
