Bib Cocks
Bib cocks, also known as bib taps or hose bibs, are plumbing fixtures that are commonly used to control the flow of water in outdoor settings. They are typically mounted on the exterior of a building and are designed to allow for the attachment of hoses or other water-dispensing devices. Bib cocks are simple in design, consisting of a valve and a spout, and are often made of brass or other durable materials. The valve of a bib cock is typically operated using a handle or wheel that is attached to a threaded stem. When the handle is turned, the valve opens or closes, allowing water to flow through the spout or shutting off the flow entirely. Some bib cocks may also include a built-in backflow preventer, which helps to prevent contaminated water from flowing back into the building's plumbing system. Bib cocks are commonly used in a variety of outdoor applications, such as watering plants, washing cars, or filling swimming pools. They are also frequently used in industrial settings, such as factories or construction sites, where a reliable source of water is needed for equipment or machinery.
