Bassinets
A bassinet is a small bed designed for infants and young babies. It is typically made of wicker or wood and is often designed to be portable, allowing parents to easily move it from room to room or even take it on the go. Bassinets are typically used for infants up to about four months of age, after which most babies are transitioned to a larger crib. Bassinets have been used for centuries and were once a common feature in many households. They were often used to keep babies close to their parents at night, allowing for easy feeding and care. Today, bassinets are still popular among many parents, particularly those who want to keep their newborns close by during the night. Modern bassinets come in a variety of styles and designs. Some are designed to rock back and forth, while others have a gentle vibration feature to help soothe fussy babies. Many also come with a canopy or hood to help block out light and provide a cozy, comfortable sleeping environment. While bassinets can be a convenient and practical option for parents, it is important to use them safely. Parents should always follow the manufacturer's instructions for assembly and use, and should never place a bassinet near any hazards, such as cords or curtains. Additionally, parents should always place babies to sleep on their backs, as this has been shown to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
