Baran Akalin
Baran Akalin is a highly accomplished architect, designer, and art director from Istanbul, Turkey. He is known for his passion for creating living spaces, as well as his love for vehicles and water, which began in his early childhood. Baran's creative talents extend beyond his work in the design field, as he is also an active musician who has been playing drums for the past 15 years in many different bands. Baran's educational background includes a degree in architecture, which he pursued after his love for creating living spaces motivated him to do so. After working for a top studio in Istanbul, he decided to further his career by enrolling in the Master of Industrial Design program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Although the boat design classes were closed due to student incompetence, he did not let this stop him from achieving his dreams and moved to Italy to study a Master in Yacht Design at IED Torino. After completing his studies, Baran returned to his homeland and started working as a freelance designer for design companies and boat brands. He has since designed and managed mass production boats as well as custom design yacht projects. In addition to his work as a designer, Baran is also a lecturer at Maltepe University's Yacht Design Section, a program which is the second bachelor Yacht Design program in the world. He is also the talker and yacht design consultant at IDD (Italian Design Days). Baran's designs have been recognized internationally and have earned him numerous awards in the Yacht and Marine Vessels Design Category. His unique aesthetic and deep understanding of design and creativity have allowed him to push numerous projects to their creative boundaries. He has a keen eye for detail and has consistently been able to turn ideas into tangible experiences.

Baran Akalin
Baran Akalin is one of the most creative and driven designers from Turkey, with a passion for cars, boats and water. His journey into the world of design started from a very young age, where he was able to identify different car types just by the sound of their engines. After studying architecture, Baran Akalin decided to take his skills to the next level and followed a Master of Industrial Design program at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Though the boat design classes ended prematurely, he didn’t let this stop him from achieving his dreams and moved to Italy to study a Master in Yacht Design. After completing his studies, Baran Akalin was selected as an intern at one of the best yacht design studios in Venice. He has since returned to his home country, and is currently working as a freelance designer, managing projects from mass production boats to custom design yachts. He also works as a lecturer at Maltepe University’s Yacht Design Section, is the talker and yacht design consultant at IDD (Italian Design Days), and is an active musician. Throughout his career, Baran Akalin has demonstrated a creative eye for design and an incredible attention to details, which has been recognized with a number of prestigious awards.
