Banlan Hairdressing Salon is an innovative interior design project that revolutionizes the traditional concept of hair salon spaces through its distinctive architectural and aesthetic elements. Located in Taihe Plaza, this avant-garde salon seamlessly integrates rough concrete facades with a striking International Klein Blue (IKB) color scheme, creating a sophisticated interplay between industrial rawness and artistic refinement. The L-shaped layout encompasses strategically positioned functional areas, with the washing and cutting sections situated on the left and a creatively designed waiting area on the right. The space distinguishes itself through three primary design elements: mystery, technology, and specialty, which are manifested in various aspects of its execution. The salon's lighting system is meticulously engineered to eliminate shadows and simulate natural light, ensuring optimal working conditions for hair color accuracy. Innovative space division is achieved through ground-mounted mirrors and steel plate stands, which create continuous modules while preventing visual distortions. The waiting area features an unconventional arrangement of varied-sized furniture pieces, reminiscent of Tetris blocks, while the integration of multiple materials including metal, leather, and paint creates a harmonious balance between strength and delicacy. Designed by Wenhui Ruan and Yanbin Cai, this project, which was completed in 2019, earned the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its exceptional contribution to contemporary salon design. The space transcends its primary function as a hairdressing salon to become an artistic venue that promotes aesthetic appreciation through its thoughtful combination of materials, colors, and spatial arrangements.
