5X5 LED Lamp

5X5 LED Lamp

5X5 LED Lamp is an innovative lighting design that exemplifies modular functionality and aesthetic versatility through its distinctive rhomboid structure. Created by Slovenian designer Barbara Princic, this sophisticated lighting solution emerged as an extension of a previously designed chair project, incorporating the same 5x5 centimeter dimensional principle but reimagined in a rhombus form. The lamp's primary structure consists of a thin, curved laser-cut metal sheet plate with nickel treatment, complemented by white acrylic plates shaped through vacuum technology. A significant technical innovation lies in its LED implementation, featuring eight LED strips with 48 diodes (6-watt each) curved along with the metal form - a challenging technological achievement that advanced the boundaries of LED strip application. Measuring 600mm in length, 320mm in width, and 810mm in height, the lamp's design allows for multiple units to be mounted together, enabling the creation of diverse lighting patterns such as zig-zag configurations, diagonal lines, and arrow shapes, making it particularly suitable for both private and public spaces. The design's technical sophistication is evident in its solution to LED strip mounting on curved surfaces, representing a departure from conventional flat-surface applications, while the carefully selected acrylic material ensures optimal light diffusion through its opaque surface. This groundbreaking design was recognized with a Gold A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to combining technical advancement with aesthetic refinement. The lamp's ability to create soft, ambient lighting through its translucent rhombus forms, coupled with its thin, elegant profile, demonstrates a harmonious balance between functional illumination and emotional design appeal.
