3G Home Residential House
3G Home Residential House is an innovative architectural project in Singapore that exemplifies sustainable urban development through thoughtful renovation and expansion of an existing intermediate terrace house. This residential masterpiece, designed by Kelvin Bing, demonstrates a sophisticated approach to multi-generational living while preserving architectural heritage in land-scarce Singapore. The project, completed in December 2022, features a striking pure white façade that not only creates a timeless aesthetic but also serves a practical purpose in heat reduction for the tropical climate. The design incorporates several notable architectural elements, including a steel roof with specially treated skylights that filter 70 percent of heat while maintaining natural illumination, and a distinctive powder-coated steel sun shading screen that creates dynamic shadow patterns throughout the day. The renovation successfully added a third story to the original two-story structure, with careful setback positioning to maintain harmony with neighboring properties. The interior space planning prioritizes natural ventilation and light through strategic placement of windows, double-volume spaces, and skylights. The project, which spans 185.70 square metres, represents a significant achievement in sustainable architecture by preserving existing structures while modernizing functionality. This approach substantially reduced carbon emissions and construction waste, setting a precedent for environmentally conscious urban development. The design's excellence has been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to space utilization, sustainable design principles, and architectural aesthetics.
