2016 Taipei Public Housing Exhibition Public is an innovative interior exhibition design project that reimagines the presentation of public housing initiatives through sophisticated spatial design elements. Created by designers Alfie Shao and Hsuan Yen, this 400-square-meter exhibition space employs a striking minimalist aesthetic featuring a floating glass island as its central metaphorical element, symbolizing hope and future aspirations for urban housing development. The exhibition design incorporates strategic use of light and shadow projections to represent the future integration of public housing within the urban fabric, while a prominent 3.24-square-meter cube serves as an attention-focusing device that guides visitors through the space. The design's white color scheme was deliberately chosen to evoke concepts of purity, peace, and social justice, while incorporating furniture frames mounted on walls to emphasize housing as a fundamental human need rather than a luxury commodity. The exhibition creates an interactive platform for civic dialogue, utilizing both three-dimensional spatial elements and two-dimensional informational displays to explore various aspects of public housing development, including historical context, regulatory frameworks, and future urban planning considerations.
