16 The Moment Residential
16 The Moment Residential is an innovative architectural project completed in 2020 in Mashhad, Iran, that exemplifies contemporary residential design while drawing inspiration from Tehran's modernist architectural heritage of the 1950s and 1960s. This distinctive residential complex, spanning 2,650 square meters on a 510-square-meter plot, represents a unique approach to multi-generational living through its concept of an apartment republic. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, features five independent living units: a 300-square-meter parent unit and four 150-square-meter units for children, each thoughtfully designed to maintain privacy while fostering family connectivity. The project's architectural language pays homage to the traditional Khorjini design pattern prevalent in Iranian modernist architecture, while incorporating contemporary elements and innovative spatial solutions. Notable design features include carefully planned level differences that create diverse floor plans, custom-designed elements such as benches and fireplaces, and thoughtful consideration of common areas, particularly in the elevator front space design. The project demonstrates exceptional attention to municipal regulations and space optimization, successfully overcoming challenges related to floor space ratio requirements while maintaining architectural integrity. This residential complex stands as a testament to the evolution of Iranian residential architecture, balancing traditional construction methods with modern living requirements and familial values.
