Zodyak Calendar is an innovative three-dimensional desk calendar design that embodies the celestial mechanics of Earth and Moon through its distinctive interlocking ring structure. Created by designers Süha Süzen and Tugçe Gürel, this perpetual calendar represents a sophisticated interpretation of time-keeping that draws inspiration from astronomical movements. The design consists of two primary circular components: an outer ring symbolizing the Moon's orbital path and displaying months, and an inner ring representing Earth's axial rotation and showing days. These components are engineered to interlock seamlessly on an angled stand, allowing for manual date adjustment through a thoughtfully positioned gap in the outer ring. The calendar's minimal aesthetic approach combines functionality with philosophical contemplation of universal order, measuring 106 x 106 x 116 mm when assembled. Manufactured using PLA or ABS plastics through either 3D printing for single production or injection molding for mass manufacturing, the design emphasizes practicality through its collapsible nature, occupying minimal space when stored in its 110 x 110 x 32 mm packaging.
