Zen Resort & Spa Sales Center Sales & Exhibition is an innovative architectural and interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese design principles with contemporary functionality. Located in Yichun City, this three-story structure represents a masterful adaptive reuse of a former seafood restaurant, transformed through the visionary design approach of Raynon Chiu and his team. The project, which garnered the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, draws significant inspiration from Chinese Quadrangles (Siheyuan), incorporating their essential elements into a modern context. The facility's thoughtful spatial organization divides the first floor into three distinct yet interconnected zones: a central reception area, a negotiation space to the left, and the main exhibition area to the right. The design's distinctive features include wooden grid elements that perpetuate a Zen aesthetic, complemented by thin, straight columns that symbolize honesty, inclusion, and stability. The material palette combines wood grain marble, grey granite, Shanxi black marble, elm, and ashtree, creating a sophisticated interplay of textures and surfaces. A notable design element is the strategic incorporation of a waterscape at the entrance, serving as a transitional space between exterior and interior environments. The project, measuring 35.58 x 52.32 x 16.49 meters, demonstrates exceptional attention to cultural sensitivity and environmental context, particularly in its lighting design which harmonizes with the adjacent Huacheng Wetland Park. The upper floors house VIP rooms, offices, and dining facilities, all integrated seamlessly into the overall design concept that emphasizes spiritual connection and cultural representation through minimalist elements.
