Zeal Design Office

Zeal Design Office

Zeal Design Office is an innovative interior design project completed in 2020, exemplifying contemporary spatial design principles through its thoughtful integration of Chinese landscape aesthetics and minimalist philosophy. The 180-square-meter office space demonstrates a sophisticated approach to workplace design, characterized by its striking use of pure white elements and reflective surfaces that create an atmosphere of tranquility and boundless possibility. The design, conceived by Chinese designers Chengyi Chen and Xiaojie Shen, masterfully addresses the challenges of working within an existing structural framework while achieving a transformative spatial experience. The project's distinctive features include a reflective-painted roof treatment that enhances spatial permeability and creates a seamless connection with the sky, alongside an ingeniously designed corridor ceiling that incorporates inclined roof elements and strategic lighting to guide movement through the space. The design's philosophical depth is evident in its deconstruction of traditional Chinese landscape elements, translated into flowing curves and undulating walls that immerse occupants in a landscape-like experience rather than merely observing it. Environmental consciousness is demonstrated through the use of eco-friendly materials, including white protective coatings and handcrafted installations created from sustainable materials such as super light clay, fabrics, and clothing. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a harmonious blend of functional office requirements with artistic expression, where every element, from the custom-designed art installations to the carefully curated material palette, contributes to a cohesive narrative of purity and stillness.
