Z Temple Leisure resort is an award-winning hospitality design project situated at the foot of Emei Mountain, exemplifying a masterful fusion of traditional Chinese temple architecture with contemporary luxury resort amenities. The architectural and interior design concept, led by Liwan Yang, draws profound inspiration from indigenous temple structures while introducing modern interpretations of classical elements. The resort's spatial organization follows a carefully orchestrated sequence, beginning with eight monumental wooden doors that create a ceremonial entrance experience, leading to a thoughtfully designed reception area enhanced by horizontal lighting fixtures. The interior environment demonstrates exceptional attention to material selection, incorporating dyed oak, fumed oak, reclaimed indigenous wood panels, chiseled stone paver flooring, and brass elements to establish a harmonious connection with nature. The comprehensive design encompasses multiple facilities including a lobby, lobby lounge, Chinese restaurant, all-day dining buffet, banquet hall, meeting facilities, spa, and 323 guest rooms and suites. The project's design philosophy centers on creating a balanced atmosphere that respects both cultural heritage and modern hospitality requirements, achieving what the designers refer to as 'the loudest silence' - a space that helps visitors disconnect from mundane concerns. The design team conducted extensive research into local architecture, geographical elements, and literature, particularly drawing inspiration from Tang dynasty poetry and indigenous civilian residences. This exceptional architectural achievement was recognized with a Gold A' Design Award in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to spatial design and cultural preservation.
