Yuamu Hotel

Yuamu Hotel

Yuamu Hotel is a distinguished Japanese hospitality establishment that exemplifies innovative architectural renovation and contemporary interior design, transforming a traditional ryokan's banquet hall into luxurious guest accommodations. Located in Yumura Onsen, northwestern Hyogo Prefecture, this sophisticated renovation project, completed in January 2023, masterfully integrates modern comfort with traditional Japanese aesthetics. The hotel's design philosophy centers on the concept of weaving and folding, reflected in both its name and architectural elements. The renovation encompasses 1,044 square meters of the total 5,106.27-square-meter facility, featuring five meticulously crafted guest rooms with unique high ceilings and varying floor heights. Each room showcases an unprecedented Japanese modern style, seamlessly blending tatami areas with contemporary furnishings and offering stunning river views from both living spaces and bathrooms. The restaurant, designed with a sophisticated folding motif, accommodates 120 guests and employs varying degrees of transparency to create distinct atmospheric zones. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional spatial innovation in response to evolving hospitality needs during the post-2019 period. Designer Naoya Tochio's vision incorporates custom-made furniture and careful attention to dimensional precision, creating a harmonious balance between traditional ryokan elements and contemporary design sensibilities. The establishment's thoughtful branding strategy integrates local cultural elements with modern aesthetics, establishing a unique identity that resonates with the property's historical significance while meeting contemporary luxury standards.
