YS Retreat Hotel

YS Retreat Hotel

YS Retreat Hotel is an exemplary architectural and interior design achievement that embodies the philosophy of veiled serenity, seamlessly integrating modern luxury hospitality with traditional Tibetan cultural elements. Located in the Guxiang quarter of Bomi County, this remarkable retreat is thoughtfully nestled among snow-capped mountains, demonstrating an exceptional reverence for its natural surroundings through its minimalist yet sophisticated design approach. The project, completed in 2022 by designer Song Zhengxiang, showcases an innovative fusion of Han and Tibetan architectural styles, featuring distinctive elements such as dougong (interlocking brackets), upturned eaves, and carved beams, while maintaining contemporary comfort and functionality. The hotel's design emphasizes spiritual purification and mental relaxation through its careful material selection, including carbonized wood panels, micro-cement wall coatings, and insulated glass installations that facilitate a profound connection with the surrounding landscape. Large floor-to-ceiling windows create an immersive dialogue between interior spaces and the natural environment, while the free-flowing spatial pattern accommodates comprehensive hospitality functions. The project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, overcame significant logistical challenges in its construction, including complex topography and material transportation constraints, ultimately delivering a harmonious blend of commercial viability and architectural aesthetics that sets new standards in luxury retreat design.
