Yearning for Home Residential is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies contemporary residential architecture through its sophisticated blend of form and function. Completed in 2020 in Daxi Township, Taoyuan City, this distinctive space challenges traditional residential conventions by implementing an open-end spatial concept that harmoniously balances commercial and residential requirements. The design, created by Yu-Lung Lee and Szu-Hui Wang, is characterized by its masterful use of cement paints, which create dynamic interplays of light and shadow throughout the space. The project's architectural language is defined by flowing arc-shaped elements and linear lighting systems that establish a modern, gallery-like atmosphere while maintaining practical functionality. Notable design features include a thoughtfully integrated trap door system, preserved walls for art display, and a sophisticated material palette comprising wooden elements, rust-imitated bricks, and grey-toned laminate surfaces. The space is ingeniously organized around a diagonal layout in the public area, featuring custom-designed counters and multifunctional dining tables that serve as workstations. Particular attention was paid to technical details, such as the precisely calculated 80-centimeter counter height to accommodate specific tile dimensions, and innovative solutions like embedded floor electrical sockets and a dedicated robot vacuum storage area. The project, which garnered recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a significant achievement in residential interior design, demonstrating excellence in spatial planning, material selection, and functional innovation.
